Yovonna Hearns Obituary

Yovonna “Onion” Hearns was born to Jimmy Lee Davis and Kirk Davis on Thursday, May 20, 1954, in Greenwood, Mississippi.

Yovonna attended Perry High School in Lima, Ohio. She was a longtime faithful member of Wings of Deliverance Tabernacle Holiness Church in Fort Wayne, under the leadership of Pastor Robert D. Clark.

Yovonna worked many years as a nurse’s aide and was a foster mother to a number of children who are still “family’.

Her warmth, compassion, and unwavering love were felt by all who knew her. She will be remembered for her open heart, her vibrant spirit, and the way she found beauty in every person and in every day.

She loved shopping for family and friends on Temu, watching African movies on YouTube, and crocheting. She enjoyed crossword puzzles so much that she would leave her initials on each page when she finished.

Yovonna devoted her days to nurturing her family and community. She was the proud mother of five children. Her legacy of family continues to flourish through her 19 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy and pride.

She transitioned on  Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Yovonna was blessed with a large and loving family who misses her dearly. She leaves to cherish her memories; her children, Shawn (Rakisha) Davis of Fort Wayne, IN; Octavius (Karmesha) Molton of Avon, IN; Dwana Blaine of Fort Wayne, IN; Quintous Hall of Lima, OH;  and Quintrell Hall of Las Vegas, NV; her sisters; Patricia Davis of Fort Wayne, IN, Ida Garrett; Natalie McGee and Josie Clark, all of Lima, OH; her sister-in-law; Annie Bundley of Lima, OH; her brothers; Rodney Bundley of Lima, OH; Elton Bowman of Columbus, OH; Michael (Liz) Banks of Toledo, OH; William (Tracey) Cash of Toledo, OH; James (Jackie) Cash of Toledo, OH; and Eric (Monica) Cash of Fort Wayne, IN; 19 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; her live-in caregiver; Matika Porter; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and special friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Jimmy Lee Rowan; her brothers, Robbie Davis, Nathaniel Bundley; and her sister, Vernice Smith.

May Yovonna’s soul rest in eternal peace. Her love and light will forever remain in our hearts.
