William Hairston

William Hairston, 71, was born on August 24, 1948 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to his parents Ernest Hairston and Ida-Mae Simpson. William was called home July 17, 2020.  William graduated from Central High School here in Fort Wayne, Indiana. William enlisted into the United States Air Force. He retired after 14 years of service as a Staff Sergeant (E-6) with honors. He worked as an Environmental Specialist until his retirement.

William leaves to mourn, his longtime companion; Veola Lewis, his children; Marynetta Hairston of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Mark Hairston of Indianapolis, Indiana, Lakesha Hairston of San Antonio, Texas, William Hairston, Jr. of Houston, Texas, Neshika Hairston of Walla Walla, Washington. Also, his siblings; Vandetta Starnes, Ernestine Hairston, Mary-Louise (Bobby) Smith, Coralee Nikolaenko, Tonya Woodberry, Darnell (Nafeesa) Hairston, and Morris Simpson all of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Hairston and Ida-Mae Simpson, also his siblings; Grace Simpson, Gloria Jean Robinson (Hairston), Linda Carol Hairston, Judy Ann Cryer, Celletta Mae Minniefield, Victor Slayton, Ollie Bassett, and Calvin Simpson.
