William Harvey Ellis Sr., 62, was born on December 31, 1963, in Birmingham, AL, to Maurice Ellis Sr. and Jane Etta Ellis. He departed this life on July 13, 2026, in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
William spent most of his formative years in New York. His parents then relocated to Fort Wayne, IN, in 1976. Around this time, he met Lisa Ann Whitt, and they were married a few years later. They share four of his six biological children. William enjoyed the New York Giants Football team, fishing, playing cards, and dominoes. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
William leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life, his three sons and three daughters. His sons, William Ellis Jr. of Clarksville, TN, Andrew Whitt and Demitre Kyles, both of Fort Wayne, IN. His daughters, Andrea (Adrian) Hackney of Tri-Cities, TN, Andreaza Ellis, and Chaminda Gardner, both of Fort Wayne, IN. He also leaves to cherish his memory two sisters, Valentina Ellis and Stacey Ellis, both of Fort Wayne, IN; four brothers, Maurice Ellis and Michael Ellis, both of Fort Wayne, IN, Maurice Tucker of Nashville, TN, and Dennis Ellis of California, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, grandchildren, and bonus children.
William was preceded in death by grandparents Frank Crawford and Rosa Mae Smiley (Green); parents Maurice Ellis, Sr. and Jane Etta Ellis (Smiley); three brothers, Anthony Ellis, Marc Ellis, and Christopher Ellis; and two nephews Kyree Ellis and Duran Brown.
