Welton Moore, Jr. Obituary

Welton “Pop” Moore, Jr. was born on May 29, 1947, in Meridian, MS. He was the son of the late Welton, Sr. and Yvonne Moore.

Welton accepted Christ at an early age and most recently attended Fellowship Missionary Church. He had a servant’s heart and a joyous spirit.

A 1965 graduate of Central High School. He served in the U.S. Army for two years. He then went on to get his Associates Degree from Indiana Division of General and Technical Studies (DGTS) of the former IPFW. Some of his most memorable employment was AT&T Call Center supervisor, Modern Woodmen insurance salesman & General Electric (GE) laborer. Welton was also an entrepreneur, owning and operating RLD Tax Service, Inc. for over thirty years.

In 1994, Welton married Regina Nelson and together they enjoyed participating in many events with Prince Hall Mason and Shriners for many years. Welton was a member of Fort Wayne Chapter #8 OES; member of American Legion Post 148 Veteran and Military Organization; past Potentate of St. Mary’s Lodge #14; a Master Mason; a Noble Saudi advisor for #121; and, Consistory Scottish Rite Royal Arch 32nd Degree.

Pop enjoyed spending time with family, friends, traveling, and enjoying life to the fullest. Many will cherish his ability to never meet a stranger, encouraging words, and pleasant personality. If he wasn’t boasting about his “girls” to all he spoke with, he could be heard speaking about past family stories, times, any and everything and so called “keeping a long story short” or many other catchy phrases known to be said by him.

On Sunday, March 19, 2023, Welton departed this life to join his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Welton leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Regina Nelson-Moore; Daughters: Lori (Keith) Howard and Dr. Dawn R. Moore; Granddaughters: Cameryn Howard and Kyla Howard; Brother: Tyrone (Shirley) Moore; Sisters: Benita Moore, Tanya Billingsley, LaVonya Moore, and Shirley (Johnny) Sewell; Brother-in-laws: Johnny Nelson, Rickey (Jackie) Nelson, Stevie Nelson, and Curtis (Tammie) White; Sisters-in-law: Minister Bernice (Willie) Jones, Sandra (Darrell) Davie, and Minister Carol (Jerry) Bolton; and host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
