Waneta Powell

Waneta Powell was born May 10,1960.  She departed this life August 7, 2026, in Fort Wayne, IN.

Waneta was a lifelong resident of Fort Wayne, IN and was a Member of Kingdom Door Christian Worship.  She was also a graduate of Elmhurst High School in the class of 1979.

She worked at Woodview Nursing Home for 20 years.   She enjoyed the company of her residents. She loved Bingo, vacations, dressing like a Diva!! Most of all, her family and friends.

She is leaves to cherish her memory, two precious daughters, Shira (Thadeus) Johnson and Waneisha Howard; and a son, Jerome Howard, Jr. all of Fort Wayne, IN; a brother Dennis (Kathy) Powell of Fort Wayne, IN; three sister, Dorothy (Brad) Powell-Fair of Fort Wayne, IN, Janis (Dwayne) Jackson of Chicago, IL and Bonita Powell of Fort Wayne, IN; a favorite niece Lakeya Powell; 10 Grandchildren, Jy'Quan Shaw, Jacquel Howard, Mahogany Jackson, Alieyaa Brochway, Jasaren Brochway, Ashanti Howard, Takeitha Jackson, Isaiah Grubbs, Jerome Howard, Jr., and Azyna Powell; a great-grandson Jacquel Howard, Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.

Waneta is preceded in death by her parents, Savannah Powell and George Powell; three sisters, Pauline, Maxine, and Joyce; the father of her children, Jerome Howard, Sr., and significant other, Mike Brown.
