Vincent Fitzgerald Johnson, Sr.

Vincent Fitzgerald Johnson Sr. was born on January 20, 1961 in Dyersburg, Tennessee to Reatha Mae Johnson Kelley. He accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. When he was young, his family moved from Tennessee to Chicago, Illinois, and then later to Gary, Indiana, where he attended Horace Mann High School. He was very active as a youth. He played basketball both in high school as well as for the Boys and Girls Club of Gary, Indiana. After graduation, Vincent joined the United States Army, where he served for four years. He met his wife Kim through a mutual friend in November of 1989, and they were married on April 27, 1991. He was a long-time and dedicated member of Pilgrim Baptist Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana, under the leadership of both Rev. Sam Shade Jr., and the current pastor, Rev. Raymond Dix Jr.

Vincent dedicated his life to working with youth, and he spent almost 20 years working for organizations such as Crossroads Children's Home, Northeast Juvenile Correctional Facility, and the Allen County Juvenile Center. Most recently, Vincent ministered to numerous children by serving as a foster parent for the Indiana Department of Child Services. He loved to watch the Dallas Cowboys' football games, the '85 Chicago Bulls' basketball games, read his Bible, and spend quality time with his family.

Vincent loved his Lord and Savior. On the evening of Friday, February 26, 2021, at 11:15 p.m., God called him home. He was preceded in death by his mother, Reatha M. Johnson Kelley, his step-father, Regis L. Kelley; and grandparents, James and Annie Johnson.

Vincent leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 29 years, Kim Johnson. Children; Natasha Barnes of Mankato, Minnesota, Vincent Johnson, Jr of Phenix City, Alabama, Eboni Johnson, Dalyn Johnson, and Drevon Johnson, all of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Grandchildren; Deston Brown, Destin'ee Brown, Jayden Johnson, and Brian Stewart Jr. A sister, Denene Johnson of Lexington, Kentucky, and a brother, Derrick Johnson of Merrillville, Indiana. Two aunts; Shirley Peoples of Harvey, Illinios, Lula Wallace of Dyersburg, Tennessee, and an uncle, Albert Whitelow of Chicago, Illinois. A very special future daughter-in-law, Autumn Trice, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends
