Tierra graduated from Northside High School and it is there that she recognized her gift for helping and caring for others. Following in her grandmother's footsteps, she continued her education at Medtech College for nursing and received her Licensed Practical Nursing Degree in 2016.
Tierra worked as a nurse for several Parkview and Lutheran Hospital doctors around the city. She loved children and knew her calling was to work in pediatrics. She quickly became a nurse that parents and patients looked forward to seeing.
Tierra also worked for Fort Wayne community schools as a licensed practical nurse in the special education department, Anthony Wayne Services Children's Home, as well as Easter Seals ARC of northeast Indiana, working with children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She grew up watching her mother be an advocate for clients who couldn’t always advocate for themselves. Tierra knew this was important and worked hard to be a voice for those who needed it.
Tierra was passionate about her son Avyan (Avy) and was a truly devoted aunt to her nieces and nephews: Jason, Contrell, Rylynn, Nehemiah, Treasure, Malina, Makayla, and Em’Marie.
She was fiercely loyal and true to her family. Happy memories were important to her, so she strived to capture every moment. She was dubbed the family photographer, and everyone knew that if they ever needed a picture they could go to Tierra.
She loved music, dancing, movies, and Disney. You could often catch her in her Minnie Mouse hat and T-shirt. But, more than that, Tiara loved family get-togethers and often called family members to organize trips. She brought a new meaning to the phrase “Carpe diem” or “seize the day.” She cherished her son and tried to make his life as full as possible. She enjoyed taking Avy to Indiana Beach, the Indianapolis Children’s Museum and the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo as often as she could.
Tierra leaves behind the following loved ones to cherish her memory: her son Avyan M. Ash of Fort Wayne, IN, Grandmother Mirrinett L. Lewis of Fort Wayne, IN., father Herman L. Ash Sr., of Fort Wayne, IN., mother Shari J. Whitehead (Adryan) of Fort Wayne, IN., brother Contrell L. Ash Sr. (Kannah) of Fort Wayne, IN., sister Rholonda N. Ash-Nobbe (Nick) of Greenwood, IN., sisters Tameka McPherson and LaShonda McPherson of Atlanta GA., brother Herman Lee Ash Jr of Fort Wayne, IN., sister Monique Ash of Fort Wayne, IN., step-brothers Trinity Whitehead of Fort Wayne, IN. Bonus siblings Heru Amura, Shykeista Smith-Brodanex, Emmanuel Smith, Andrea Clark-Sallie, Julie Turrubiates, Kahn Abercrombie, and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, family, and friends.
Tierra was preceded in death by her grandparents: William J “Bill” Lewis Sr. of Fort Wayne., and Loreice Ash and Troy L Ash Sr (Gladys) of Fort Wayne, IN., and Great grandparents, Johnnie L Morgan Sr., Ruth M Morgan.
