Mr. Thomas Allen “Steve” Sneed was born on December 10, 1941, in Rutherford County Tennessee to the late Clara Mai (White) Sneed and Marlon Sneed. He departed this life on May 22, 2022. He gave his life to Christ in 1971 and served as a dedicated Christian and steward at the Summit City Church of Christ until his death. Thomas graduated from Holloway High School. He served in the United States Army where he was awarded a National Defense Service Medal for marksmanship. Honorably discharged, he returned home to marry the love of his life, and relocated to Fort Wayne, Indiana, securing a job at Kresge’s (later acquired by Kmart). He retired from Kmart Distribution Center after 32 years of service but returned to work at the place that brought him much joy, the Foster Park Golf Course. Affectionately known as “Poppy”, Thomas was an avid golfer and member of the Par-Tee Golf club. Thomas was known for his wit, humor, big appetite, and smile. He enjoyed spending time with his family, worshiping and fellowshipping with the saints, hanging with his golf buddies, and watching TV. You could easily find him enjoying a good meal, joking and picking fun at those he loved and came in contact with, or Face-timing with his great-grandchildren. Thomas was preceded in death by his brothers, William, Aaron, Rollie, Curtis, Robert, Charles, and Terry Sneed; sisters, Fannie Jean Vaughn, Mary Hathaway, and Carolyn Sanders. He leaves to cherish his memories to his loving wife of 53 years, Aline Sneed; daughters, Carliss (George) Harrison and Trina (Wayne) Walker, both of Fort Wayne; and Betty Jean (Leonard) Alexander of Murfreesboro, TN; two brothers, James (Daisy) Sneed and Michael Sneed of Murfreesboro, TN; one sister Sharon Orr of Murfreesboro, TN; sisters-in-law Mary Sneed of Fort Wayne, IN; Linda Sneed of Murfreesboro, TN; four granddaughters, Ylorie (Bryan) Taylor of Mamaroneck, NY, Dr. LaQuia (Andrew) Vinson of Indianapolis, IN; Kimberly (Christopher) Williams and Jessica (Michael) Card, both of Murfreesboro, TN, 10 greatgrandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, devoted friends, and special friend Al Booker. Thomas fought the good fight and lived faithfully until his death. He was a devoted Christian example, exemplified the attributes of a loving provider as a husband and father, caring brother, compassionate grandfather, and a jovial, dependable friend. Always a light, spreading joy in every room he entered, he will forever be the ray of sun in our lives.
