Sharon Sue Green known by family members as “Sputnik” a name given to her by her father meaning “traveling companion;” she was born on April 14, 1958, the 6th child of eight children to the late Emma Lois Greene and Walter J. Greene in Marion, AL. On March 21, 2021 she departed her earthly home and entered her Eternal Heavenly Home.
Sharon was a graduate of South Side High School class of 1977. After graduation, she worked various jobs up until the day she injured her back.
She was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1151 Francis St., Fort Wane, IN. People were drawn to Sharon because of her wit and her magnetic personality. She enjoyed volunteering her time at church functions and the Weisser Park Community Center.
Jason her son, her nieces and nephews were the apex of her many loves; truthfully Sharon loved everyone. She also enjoyed word search puzzles, crocheting, watching Classical Movies and TV shows, Classical Gospel music and the Motown Sound; Mahalia Jackson and Shirley Caesar were among her favorite Gospel artists.
Sharon leaves to cherish her memories: Her siblings: Walter Mae Jackson, Judy Whittaker (James), Sandra Wright, Bobby (Connie), Larry and Myrna Greene; step-mother Rose Greene; sister-in-law Tanishia Greene, five aunts: Doris Brown Columbia MD, Carolyn Thomas Marion, AL and Callie (Clifton) Gordy Ellicot City, MD, Eva Lou Cannon Marion, AL and Gladys Cannon Helena, AL along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Emma Lois Greene and Walter J. Greene; her son Jason Edward Greene; a sister Annie Louise Greene; a brother Gregory Alan Greene and a sister-in-law Linda Greene
Sharon will be missed but never forgotten. Memories of her will always reside in our hearts and bring a smile to our faces.
