Ruthell "Ruth" (Ruffin) Stanford

Ruthell Stanford, known to her family and friends as Ruth, departed this life on Monday, May 20, 2024. Ruth was born on December 29, 1947 to Robert and Lula Ruffin in Meridian, Mississippi.

In the summer of 1955, she relocated to Fort Wayne, Indiana and went on to graduate from Central High School in 1965.

In the 60’s Ruth started a career working at General Electric in Fort Wayne. Later, after giving birth to two beautiful daughters, Lori and Dawn, she became an amazing homemaker.

Eventually, Ruth returned to the workforce and served over 15 years at Lincoln Financial Group and completed an associate degree in business from the International Business College of Fort

Wayne. She then went on to work within FWCS as a librarian assistant and later retired after serving for over 10 years. After retirement she became a member of the Retired Indiana Public Employees Association (RIPEA) where she was a recording secretary.

On November 16, 2013, Ruth married her soulmate, Michael Stanford. They created 10 years of loving memories together.

Her kind heart and fun-loving spirit shone brightest in the presence of her twin granddaughters, Cameryn and Kyla. Beyond her role as a grandmother, Ruth was a woman of exceptional grace and wisdom, where her generosity knew no bounds, and her fun-loving spirit made her the center of many a joyous family gathering.

In her spare time, Ruth enjoyed crafting & painting. She also owned RLR Accessories, selling her personal craft designs and also was an avid volunteer painter who lent her talent of painting with various theater organizations. And her kindness touched everyone she met, leaving a legacy of warmth and love.

Ruth leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Michael Stanford; her daughter, Dawn Moore; stepson, Stephen Stanford; her son-in-law, Keith Howard; grandchildren, Cameryn and Kyla Howard, sister, Lillie Board, and a host of other family and friends.

Ruth was preceded in death by her daughter, Lori Howard, and her parents.
