Roslyn Elizabeth Johnson (Ros/Ra-ra) was born October 4, 1960, to Wiley James Johnson and Lula Mae Johnson in Jersey City, New Jersey.
Roslyn was a one-of-a-kind young woman who loved life and loved the Lord. Roslyn was always happy and enjoyed singing and playing her tambourine at church. Roslyn beat the odds as a young child, as when Roslyn was born in 1960, the doctors wanted her mother to give her away to a mental institution due to her being a special needs individual. Roslyn’s mother, Lula, taught her independence until her death in 2000. Roslyn’s oldest sister, Lelley, began to care for Roslyn with the help of her daughter and granddaughter. Roslyn also attended St. Anne's School for the Blind in New Jersey. She loved every holiday, such as Christmas and Thanksgiving, as she enjoyed being around family and good food. She always had a special affection for McDonald's, specifically a cheeseburger, French fries, and a Coke. Roslyn loved taking pictures, often saying “CHEESE” when a camera was in her face to snap a photo.
Roslyn leaves behind her sister, Lelley Govner and brother, Aaron Johnson. Her five sisters-in-law, her godmother, Lessie Trueheart, and a host of great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by both parents and brothers Isaac, Wiley, Charles Johnson, and Timothy Johnson, and her sister Letha A. Johnson-Brown.
