Robert Lee Nathan was born May 31, 1950 in Birmingham, Alabama to Jimmy Lee Nathan and Mary Jackson Lamb. Robert was a 1968 graduate of Carol W. Hayes High School of Birmingham, Alabama. In 1969 Robert enlisted in the U.S. Army where he fought in the Vietnam War obtaining an honorable discharge. Robert relocated to Fort Wayne, IN; joining the FWPD July 6, 1971 and retiring as a Sergeant September 6, 2001.
Robert loved his family, friends and definitely loved his yard. He had a passion and love for his flowers. He also served as a student resource officer for South Side High School as well as the President of the Booster Club.
Robert departed this life April 26, 2021 with his family at his side at Parkview Hospice. He leaves to cherish Wife Pat Nathan (Fort Wayne, IN), 3 daughters; Leshondra Nathan (Charolotte, NC), Eritty Nathan (Fort Wayne, IN), Darshana Nathan (Brownstown, MI) and 1 son; Keith Nathan (Fort Wayne, IN) 4 sisters; Ann Jackson, Mary Jackson (Jacksonville, FL), Debra Roberts (Stockbridge, GA),Tip Jamal Nathan (Laurens, SC) 4 brothers; Michael Nathan, Nathaniel Lamb (Fort Wayne, IN), Steven Jackson (Indianapolis, IN), Vincent Wayne Mccoy (Birmingham, AL) 1 aunt; Iola Jeffries (Zion, IL), and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A walk through viewing will be Friday, May 7, 2021 at Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 3506 Warsaw Street from 6:00 p.m.- 7:45. Mask are required. Funeral services will be private. Care entrusted to Nelson Memorial Gardens, Inc.
