Pinkie Wilson Obituary

In Loving Memory of Pinkie Wilson
August 3, 1929 – June 12, 2025

A beacon of grace, compassion, and unwavering faith, Pinkie Wilson passed away peacefully at home on June 12, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on August 3, 1929, in Tate County, Mississippi, Pinkie was the fifth of twelve children born to Georgeanna and Roosevelt King. She received her early education at Warrior School in Senatobia, Mississippi, and was baptized at Wall Hill Church of Christ in Coldwater, Mississippi.

Pinkie was the devoted wife of the late Rev. Lee Wilson for 51 years. To know her was to experience a life filled with wisdom, generosity, and kindness. As the matriarch of her family, she was a nurturing presence and a steadfast source of guidance. She lovingly mothered not only her own children but many others who were drawn to her warmth and boundless care.

Her love extended far beyond her household and into the Chestnut Street neighborhood, where she was a pillar of support, encouragement, and faith. Sister Wilson served faithfully for 45 years as First Lady of Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church alongside her husband and later embraced the sacred role of Church Mother for two decades. Her unwavering devotion to both God and community was the thread that wove her life together—a life defined by humility, service, and steadfast faith.

Left to honor the beautiful life and enduring legacy of Pinkie Wilson are her devoted children: Euell Wilson, Jernice (Larry) Watson, and Vernice (Elton) Street. They will continue to walk in the wisdom she imparted and carry the light of her love in all they do. To them, she was not only a mother but a guiding force whose presence shaped their lives in immeasurable ways.

Her influence extended deeply into the hearts of her 19 grandchildren, who lovingly knew her as “Mama” or “Madea.” She was their supporter, encourager, and confidant. Her 58 great-grandchildren and 35 great-great-grandchildren will fondly remember her as “Granny,” treasuring the memories and love she so freely gave.

Pinkie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, the late Rev. Lee Wilson; her daughters, Rosemary Jones, Elaine Wilson, and Virginia Wilson; and her son, William “Billy” Wilson. She now rests in eternal peace alongside her grandchildren: Quiton Sentrell Lewis, Tylan Lee, Euell Alief, Kerrington Wilson, Nicole Minter, Kristen, and Destiny Dufor.

She is also lovingly remembered by her sister, Grace Patton, and her brother, Sell (Bernice) King, along with a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins, church family, and cherished friends.

Pinkie’s legacy is forever etched in the hearts of all who had the blessing of knowing her—a legacy of faith, service, and unconditional love that transcends time and continues to shine through every life she has touched.

“Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your Lord.”— Matthew 25:21
