Pastor James Craig was preceded in death by his parents, William Brown, and Annie Craig McGinnis; sisters, Ida May McGinnis and Pearline H. Thomas; stepfather, Willie McGinnis; mother-in-law, Ethel Anderson; granddaughter, Nia Savage; nephew, Fred Hunter; five uncles, John Eddie Jones, Jr., James Jones, Sr., Walters Jones, Herbert Jones, and Roosevelt Jones; six aunts, Mary Custard Bennett, Florence Parker, Ethel Jones, Mary Woods, Lue Ella Young, and Odessa Jones Fitts.
James was a graduate of the class of 1972 from Keith High School, Orville, Alabama. After graduation, James then relocated to Fort Wayne, Indiana where he began his family and his career. James began working at the Fort Wayne State Developmental Center, also known as State School, as a Grounds Man, working his way up to the Boiler Room Supervisor, retiring in 2007 after 37 years of employment. James also retired from Maintenance Management, as a Maintenance Supervisor, after 18 years of service in that same year.
In 1978, James joined and was a faithful member of the Trinity FGB Church, under the leadership of the late Pastor Bennie York. James served as a Deacon, a Sunday School Superintendent/Teacher, and Assistant to his Pastor. While in service at Trinity, in 1990, James met the love of his life, Diane Anderson, they became a union on February 13, 1999. In December 2016, The Lord called for elevation and Elder James Craig was Ordained as Pastor James Craig of the Trinity FGB Church, serving in this position until the doors closed in December 2019. The Lord called again and in May of 2020, James became the Pastor of the Total Change Ministry, COGIC, serving faithfully until his earthly departure.
Pastor Craig loved the Lord to the fullest, not only did he preach Jesus, but he lived Jesus, he passed the Lord to everyone he came across, Pastor Craig didn’t meet any strangers. Pastor Craig loved to sing, as he sang with the Trinity Male Chorus, later becoming the lead singer, traveling all over Fort Wayne to give away what God blessed him with, both Word and song. Pastor Craig also loved his family doing what he could to support them spiritually, physically, and financially. Pastor Craig also enjoyed watching sports, working on cars, traveling, fishing, and spending time with his family.
Pastor James Craig leaves on earth to cherish his memories, his wife of 23 years, Lady Diane Craig; five sons; Johnathan Craig, Tampa. FL., Antonio (Janell) Fair, Evans, GA., Michael Anderson, Kenneth Anderson and Cedric Anderson, Fort Wayne, IN.; three daughters; Lady Antoinette (Bishop-Elect Will) Savage, Mobile, AL., Anita Craig, Fort Wayne, IN., Shamitra Fair, Baltimore, MD. one sister; Willie Larry, Waco, TX., one sister-in-law Freda Anderson-Vaxter; six brothers, Robert (Evelyn) Jones, Brooklyn, NY., Arthur (Mary) Craig, Sr., Fort Wayne, IN., Johnny Craig, Columbus, OH., Melvin (Janet) Craig, Atlanta, GA., Alfred McGinnis, and Izeal McGinnis, Fort Wayne, IN., 38 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren a host of nieces, nephews cousins, other relatives, and friends.
