Pastor Howard Starks Obituary

Pastor Howard Starks was born on June 7, 1949 to the late Jessie and Bernice Starks. Pastor Starks confessed Christ at an early age and joined friendship Brown in Brown, Alabama. Pastor Starks later moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana and joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. McKinley Kizer where he served faithfully as the assistant pastor. 

Pastor Starks married Rosie McNeal in 1974 at Pilgrim Baptist Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana. 

Pastor Starks attended Robert C Hatch High School in Uniontown, Alabama and then joined the army, where he served as a sergeant and aquired several service MEDALS and CAMPAIGN RIBBONS and was AWARDED the NATIONAL DEFENSE SERVICE MEDAL EXPERT W-14. Pastor Starks also served in the Vietnam War.

Pastor Starks was a member of First National Baptist church under the leadership of Pastor Franklin for 30 years, and later was the humble and faithful pastor of First National Baptist Church where he served for 10 years.

He later moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana where he worked at Volcraft as a truck driver, and Tokheim as a factory worker. He also worked at the Public Transportation Company (PTC) and retired from Twin Oaks apartment complex. He also worked at Walmart as a greeter. 

Pastor Starks was preceded in death by his mother, Bernice Askew Starks, father, Jessie Starks, brother, Roosevelt Starks and sister-in-law, Mary Starks, brother, George Starks, sister, Dorothy Gray, and sister, Fannie Askew, nephew, Reginald Starks and grandson, De’Oveion Howard David Jackson. 

Pastor Starks leaves to mourn and cherish his memory, his wife, Rosie Starks, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, two daughters, Katina Washington (David Washington), Wanda Brawley (Andre Brawley), two sons, Howard (Emily) Starks, Jr., and Jeremiah Starks. Three sisters Jessie Mae Starks, Christine Johnson, Almer (McArthur) Holmes, five brothers, Robert (Sheila) Starks, Wilson (Joanne) Starks, Jonathan (Ruby) Starks, MacAuther (Angie) Starks, Willie (Zandra) Starks

His grandchildren, Ketron (Mykael) Paschall, Jo’Meisha Smith (Isaiah) Smith, Destany Jackson, Shaniyah Starks, Jajuan (Shierra) Allen, a special grandson, Zion Allen.

Monik Starks, Howard Starks, 3rd, Jeremiah Starks, Jr., Namiah Mendoza-Starks, JaLove Starks, Jorden Alexander, KeJay Starks, Amarria Rose Starks, Avianna Marie Starks. And 15 great grandchildren that he loved dearly.

Pastor Howard Starks' final resting place will be at the Starks Family Cemetery in Marion Junction, Alabama
