Pamela Kay Markey, age 71, of Fort Wayne, IN, gracefully departed this life on January 29, 2026. She was born on October 22, 1954, to William Franklin Markey and Rhoda Pearl Williams in Fort Wayne. Pam lived her life for love, faith, and music.
Pam, a 1973 graduate of Elmhurst High School of Fort Wayne, where she nurtured her passion for music and formed lifelong friendships. She dedicated her career to caring for others. In 1978, Pam completed the required technical courses and passed her State Board Test; she received Certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). After forty (40) years of caring for others, she retired in 2018 from Parkview Hospital Randalia, Fort Wayne. Her dedication and compassion touched so many patients. She was well known and was cherished by all who knew her.
A lifelong member of Greater Progressive Baptist Church (GPBC). Pam was baptized as a child under the leadership of the late Reverend Jessie White. She was nurtured in the Word of God under former pastor, Pastor Ternae T. Jordan, Sr., and her current shepherd, Pastor Anthony R. Pettus, Sr. She was an active and beloved member of the GPBC Choir Ministry. Pam considered GPBC as her extended family.
Pam's love for singing began in her teenage years. Her musical journey continued as a young adult when she became a member of an R&B group, “Everyday People,” also known as “The Ghetto People.” Alongside her was Michelle Lynch, Conway West, Leonard Young, David Perry, and Willie Stevens. Pam graced many stages with her soulful voice, leaving audiences captivated.
Pam found solace and joy in the beauty of nature. Her favorite pastime was sitting by the beach, watching the dolphins and ships while marveling at the expansive view of the horizon. The tranquility of the ocean was a source of peace and inspiration for her.
Pam leaves behind a loving family and community. She is survived by her brother, GorDon (Carolyn) Martin; her sister, Sarah Jennings both of Fort Wayne; her cherished sisters in Christ, Stephanie Thomas of Fort Wayne, Georgia Robinson, Milwaukee, WI, and Michelle (Lee) Donelson of Fairhaven, MA; nieces, Rebecca Jennings, of Norfolk, VA and Stephanie Hinton, GA; nephews, Benjamin (Calisha) Jennings, Michael Williams, Verron Lynch, Jamont Lynch, Leotis Williams, Braxxton Martin, Rameko Guy, and Marcus Hudgins all of Fort Wayne; great-nieces, nephews, lifelong friends, her GPBC members and a host of extended family and friends.
