Ophelia N. “Poolie” Ellis, was born on June 21, 1975, and on August 5, 2020, Ophelia was reunited with her late Mother Cathy A. Ellis and late Grandmother Ophelia Ellis in heaven. Ophelia accepted Christ at an early age. She graduated from Northrop High School c/o “94” and she continued her education at Ivy Tech Community College earning a degree in Early Childhood Development. “Poolie” as she was called by many; dedicated her life to caring for and educating many children in her 25yr career at the Gingerbread House Early Childhood Center. “Poolie” loved playing bingo and always had a positive outlook on life! She had a heart of “Gold” and will be missed by many!
She leaves to cherish her memories, her brothers; Anthony Ellis and James (Kim) Ellis of Fort Wayne, Indiana, sisters; Shameka Ellis, Calandra, and Cassandra Waites all of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Dartanya Taylor Johnson of Douglasville, Georgia, God children; Sariah Taylor of Douglasville, Georgia, Aniyah, Alivia, and Noah Byrd all of Fort Wayne, Indiana, lifelong sister friends; Candyce (Felton) Walker, Jennifer Rork, Shawnee (Clyde) Byrd and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Ophelia was preceded in death by her Grandfather Archie Ellis, Sr.
Honoring her wishes, there will be no funeral services. Instead, there will be a celebration in her honor to be announced at a later date within 60 days.
