Nicole Moneque Houston, affectionately known as CoCo or ChinaDoll, passed away unexpectedly at 49 years of age, in her home on August 26, 2023. She was born on February 13, 1974, in Ft. Wayne, IN to Vanessa Houston and Jerry Crawford.
Nicole accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized by the late Rev. Dr. Samuel Walker. She was a faithful and active member who sang in the Youth Choir, served as a Junior Nurse, assisted with the Youth Department, and was currently devoted to the Senior Nurse’s Ministry.
Nicole was avid about education and service. After graduating from Wayne High School in 1992, she attended Ravenscroft Beauty College for Cosmetology. She continued to pursue her education and in 2007, she received an Associate of Science degree in Medical Assisting from Brown Mackie. In 2012, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Health and Human Services from Ashford University, and in 2014 a Master of Arts degree in Organizational Management from Ashford University. She thrived on building healthy and positive relationships through her employment at Crossroads, ResCare, SCAN, and Parkview Health, where she provided clinical training and developed treatment plans for individuals.
Nicole was all about God, Family, and those she served. Her love language was quality time with family. She enjoyed karaoke, movie nights, themed gatherings, capturing the moments, and Holiday traditions. Her children and her “CoCo Babies”, were the lights of her life. One of Nicole’s passions was braiding hair, and her own signature look included being a blonde bombshell.
Nicole leaves to cherish and honor her memory: sons, DeVonte Houston Sr., and Eljawan Houston Sr.; daughter, Imani Houston; sisters, Antrinette (Mitchell) Mace of South Bend, IN, LaKisha Houston, Angela Thomas and Carlie Crawford; brothers, Kenneth Clark and Dontrell White; 16 Grandchildren “CoCo Babies”, Illiana, Eljawan Jr., Elaiya, Nyliah, DeVeah, DeNaye, DeVonte Jr., Sincere, Ariyah, and A’Moura Houston, Legacy, Liberty, Zenobia, Khalani, JaQuan Jr., and Khalil King, plus expecting one more “CoCo Baby”, and a Host of Family and Friends.
