Nelson Robinson, Jr. departed this life on April 10, 2026, at Greenwood Healthcare Center in Greenwood, Indiana. He was born on May 28, 1946, in Maud, Mississippi, to Nels Robinson, Sr., and Earlene Jackson.
Nelson served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1969, representing his country in the Vietnam War, where he was awarded a Purple Heart. Nelson had a passion for Western movies, politics, reading, and sports.
Nelson leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories of his son, Byron Thomas, and one sister, Carrie Hill of Indianapolis, five grandchildren, Tinisha Greene (Austin), Brice Burton, Breante, Aniyah, and Akemi Thomas. Five great-grandchildren, Tinirah, Cataleya, Joy, Amirus, Annaliyah, and a very special heavenly grandchild, Tinia Lauryn. He was very fond of a very special niece, Cassandra "Candy Cane" Robinson.
Nelson was preceded in death by parents Nels Robinson, Sr., and Earlene Jackson; sisters, Elois Nowlin, Ruth Martin-Owens, Louise Ganaway, Daisy Hall, Estella Stapleton, Earlean Martin, and a brother, Joseph Bolden.
