Nellie Beatrice Shannon

Nellie Beatrice Shannon, 88, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

She was born April 29,1935 in Tuscaloosa Alabama. Nellie was a QMA at Fort Wayne State Hospital where she enjoyed taking care of the residents’ medical needs. Nellie was an active member of Saint John CME Church where she served faithfully under the leadership of Pastor Elza Bearyman. Surviving her, a goddaughter Evelyn Belcher Whitfield whom she loved, adored, and cared for as her own child. Nellie also leaves a host of relatives and friends to cherish her memories. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Luanna Belcher and husband, John Shannon.

Nellie will be remembered as an example of a life well lived, that was filled with love, compassion and an unwavering devotion to family and community. She loved to grow vegetables in her large garden. She also enjoyed preparing large meals and baking her exquisite and unforgettably delicious cakes. May her memory continue to inspire us all to be more giving and caring of one another.
