Myrtle Spruell Obituary

Myrtle Spruell was the first child of three daughters. She was born May 21, 1924, to Charlie Spruell and Willie Matt (Flanagan) Spruell in Forrest City, Arkansas. Myrtle attended Okolona College in Okolona, Mississippi.

Myrtle read the entire Bible twice and loved to quote scriptures. One of her favorite scriptures was John 3: 16. Myrtle loved evangelizing and declaring the faith. She loved handing out Bible gospel tracks. She handed and shared them with people in different states and cities, to name a few; Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Mississippi, and Wisconsin.

Myrtle taught Sunday School for children and young adults. Myrtle loved going to her home church, True Bible Way Church in Houston, Mississippi, where she was a faithful member under the leadership of Pastor Bishop L.C. Box. When she moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana she became a member of Greater Christ Temple Church under the leadership of Bishop E.C. Haywood and District Elder Mark Haywood.

Myrtle loved her family and was a caregiver to her mother, father, and sister. She was a very good cook and enjoyed serving people. Myrtle lived in Chicago, Illinois, and worked there for several years. She lived in Fort Wayne, Indiana for the last twelve years of her life with her sister, nieces, and nephews.

Myrtle leaves to cherish her memory, her loving sister; Glynder Spruell Brownlee, nephews; Thomas (Barbara) and Dwayne Brownlee, nieces; Bertha Brownlee Brooks and Christine Brownlee along with a host of great-nieces and great-nephews.

Myrtle was preceded in death by her father; Charlie Spruell, mother; Willie Matt (Flanagan) Spruell, sister; Charlie Spruell Porter, brother-in-love; Rufus Porter, and Thomas Larry Brownlee.
