Mother Sammie Amos Obituary

On Monday, February 26, 2024, Mother Sammie Amos went to rest just for a while, (When the trumpet sounds the dead in Christ shall rise first) [Thessalonians 4:16]

Therefore, it is in her loving memory, that we gather here today to remember her reflect on the joy that she brought to each of our hearts. Mother Sammie Amos was an example of Courage, Hard Work, Faith, Love and Giving; but now we will cherish all the precious memories of our many Good Times with her.

Mother Sammie Amos was born July 5, 1934 to Samuel and Ophelia Turner in Conehatta, Mississippi. She met the love of her life, Bertett Amos and was joined in matrimony on March 5, 1950. Their union birthed a son, Charles L. Amos. They enjoyed sixty-three years of wedded bliss, cut short only by his passing.

She is survived by her son, Charles L. Amos of Fort Wayne, Indiana, sisters, Georgia (Chester) Bledsoe of Kokomo, Indiana, Fannie Johnson of Jackson, Mississippi, and Essie Moore of Lake, Mississippi, and a brother, Charles C. Turner of Fort Wayner, Indiana.

Mother Sammie Amos accepted the Lord at an early age. Moving to Indiana in 1955, she was under the late Bishop John T. Dupree until 1962. Relocating to San Diego, California in 1966, returning to Marion, Indiana in 1966 and began working with the first jurisdiction under the late Bishop Milton Hall then going into the third jurisdiction under Bishop B. warren.

Mother Sammie Amos was an Evangelist Missionary. Mother Sammie Amos loved her family and grandchildren. She spent a lot of time teaching them and nurturing them to understand the love of God in Jesus Christ.

Mother Sammie Amos was preceded in death by her mother, Ophelia E. Patrick-Turner, father Samuel Turner, brother William Turner, sisters, Fannie Dale Brown and Ida Mae Farrell, and grandson, Reverend Scott L. Amos, Sr.
