REFLECTION OF LIFE
Michael Terrell Harris was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 10,1973 to the late Frank Gordon and Shearlene Harris. Affectionately known as “Mike,” “Mike Mike,” and “Mikey”, he entered into eternal rest at the age of 50 on Tuesday, September 11, 2024. His warm smile and loving presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Michael was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend with a compassionate heart. He was deeply devoted to his children and grandchildren. His Christian faith, embraced at an early age, was a source of immense pride for him. He was baptized at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan and continued his walk with God under the leadership of Bishop Howell here in Fort Wayne, IN. Before his passing, Michael was a faithful member of Abundant Life Church under the leadership of Pastor Richard Brown.
Michael attended and graduated high school in Detroit, Michigan and eventually moved to Fort Wayne, IN where he later pursued an associate’s degree in business. On October 17, 2022, Michael was united in holy matrimony to the lovely, Kim Kizer whom he shared countless memories with. Michael worked many jobs in his lifetime and touched countless people. However, his last position where he worked as a mixer for Ellison Bakery was the job he loved most as was evident by him working overtime almost every time it was offered.
Michael’s love language was eating hefty meals and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. If you know, you know! He also loved playing baseball, going to NA meetings, and shopping. As the baby of three, Michael was a great problem solver and knew how to “make it make sense.” He had many cherished relationships and was known as a certified step daddy.
God called Michael home September 11, 2024, leaving behind to cherish his memories are his devoted wife, Kim Harris, his loving daughters, Angel Harris, Mykia Harris, and Makenzie Harris, his sons, Michael Harris, Jr., Jaden Harris, Tra’Shaun Morris, MyKell Harris, and Terrell Harris, and his bonus children, Earreis Lewis, Jazzelle Kizer, Cortez Ellis, Terrell Smith, TreVonte Smith, Treona Smith, Jaquisha Raines, Jaylen Raines, Rachel Townsend (deceased), Ashton Conwell, Jasmine Hinton, Nigel Jones, Markese Jones, Charlene Jones, and Ka'Nija Jones. He was also survived by his brothers, Rico Harris and Timothy Johnson, as well as a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Welcoming Michael home are his parents, Frank Gordon and Shearlene Harris, his bonus child, Rachel Townsend, and a multitude of family members and friends.
