Maya L. Bledsoe, 32, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 while on vacation in San Diego, CA. Maya was born in Morgantown, WV to the late Carl Smith, Sr., and Audrey Bledsoe. She later moved to Fort Wayne, IN as a child.
She accepted our Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age at St. John Missionary Baptist Church. She graduated from Fort Wayne Christian High School in 2007 and worked as a medical assistant at Dr. Larry Bledsoe M.D. for many years. She was also a member of the Fort Wayne chapter of the NAACP. Maya was a devoted mother to her daughter. She enjoyed cooking, all things beauty and fashion, and traveling around the country. Her bright personality and infectious laugh would light up any room.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Carl Smith, Sr., and Audrey Bledsoe, grandparents; Rev. James and Fannie Bledsoe, grandparents; Joseph and Jessie Smith, brothers; Carl Smith, Jr., and Mark Peterson.
Maya leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter; Makenzie Jane Madison, stepmother; Katrina Wells-Smith; sisters; Demetria (Ernie) Summers, Alicia Smith, Sharmille Smith, Shallon Johnson, and Natasha Thomas, brothers; Devin (Des) Bledsoe, Eric (Billie) Smith, Michael Cranford, and Rodney Smith.
Maya is also survived by a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, God-children, and friends.
