Mary Beasley Obituary

Mary Lee Beasley (Walker), born April 17, 1943, in Birmingham, Al, was the beloved daughter of Willie Walker and Fannie Mae Walker (Tims). She accepted Christ under the leadership of the late Rev. McKinley Kizer at Mount Olive Baptist Church, a foundation of faith she carried throughout her life.

A proud graduate of Central High School, Mary achieved a remarkable milestone-earning an award for perfect attendance from kindergarten through 12th grade.  Her dedication, discipline, and quiet determination were evident even then.

On October 8, 1988, she married Ronald E. Beasley, and together they shared a loving union until his passing on October 1, 1996.  She later retired from the State of Indiana, closing a chapter of committed service and hard work.

Affectionately known as Ms. B, she was a devoted mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  Her hands were rarely still-she made beautiful quilts, cooked with love, and baked cakes that became legendary among family and friends.  If you were ever blessed to taste one of her famous pound cakes, you knew you were experiencing something truly special.

Ms. B had an eye for style and a heart for home.  She loved to shop, decorate, and bring beauty into every space she touched.  Classy and sassy in equal measure, she carried herself with confidence, warmth, and a spark that made her unforgettable.  She always had an answer, a story, or a witty remark ready-her presence filled every room.

Mary’s life was defined by love, creativity, resilience, and faith.  Her legacy lives on in the generations she nurtured, the traditions she created, and the countless memories she leaves behind.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories, children; daughter, Tamara L. Pope; sons, Rodney L. Pope, William (Tyjuana) Pope, Jr., and Toriano (Mary) Pope; sisters, Rosie L.
