Marq Anthony Rogers-Neal was born on July 2, 1994, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, a city he called home throughout his life. He was known for his strength, kindness, and unshakeable spirit. His journey was one of perseverance and faith. Marq, age 30, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2025.
He first learned the fundamentals of life at Zion Lutheran School. It was during his school years that he developed a deep love for sports, especially basketball and football, passions that remained with him throughout his life. Marq’s life was full of heart and determination, much like the games he played on the court and field. Whether dribbling down the court or making a decisive play, Marq’s energy and love for the game were contagious, inspiring his teammates and friends.
Marq graduated from Concordia Lutheran High School in 2013, where he was known for his teamwork, leadership, and dedication—traits that carried him through the many challenges he faced. For the past five years, he bravely fought a battle against cancer. Throughout this difficult journey, Marq displayed the resilience of a true athlete, never losing his faith or his hope. Despite the difficulties caused by his illness, he carried himself with dignity, quiet strength, and unwavering resolve—like a player who never gives up, no matter the score.
He leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory. His mother, Alesa Rogers; sisters, Amani Rogers of Fort Wayne, IN and Sierra Weaver of Phoenix, AZ; brothers, Christopher Neal of Maysville, KY, Terrell Neal of Indianapolis, IN, and Derris Weaver of Marion, IN. He also leaves behind his grandparents, Anthony and Inez Rogers; uncles, Anthony (T.J.) Rogers Jr., Adrian (Stephanie) Rogers, and Andray Rogers; special cousin/uncle, Brandon (Kelli) Crawford, and a host of cousins, relatives, dear friends, and "his guys" who stood by him through every season of life.
Marq shared a beautiful bond with Tionna Williams, the love of his life and mother of their two wonderful children, daughter Alani and son Alijah. Marq also leaves behind a wonderful son, Jaxon. His legacy lives on through his children, whose lives continue to reflect his spirit.
He was preceded in death by his father, Marquette Neal, and brothers Marcus Neal, Jamin Wright, and Javon Weaver.
Marq’s life was a testament to quiet strength, unwavering faith, and the spirit of a champion. As 2 Timothy 4:7 reminds us, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my race, I have kept the faith.” Like a true champion, he met each challenge with courage and determination, inspiring all who knew him.
May his memory serve as a reminder that true champions are those who face adversity with resilience and grace. His spirit will forever be a champion—forever inspiring, forever loved. Marq, your race is complete, and your legacy as a champion will continue to inspire us all. You will forever be our champion.
