Pastor Margie Rose Eldridge, a faithful servant of God. Was called home on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 surrounded by family and friends.
Born September 26, 1948 in Pickensville, Alabama, to Ada B. Stevenson and Robert McCaw. Her family migrated to St. Louis by way of Alabama. Margie graduated high school, while working as a Candy Striper (volunteer nurse) her last two years of high school. Margie moved to Ft. Wayne shortly after graduating, working for a preschool. Where she met the love of her life Clarence Eldridge. The two courted and met each other daily for lunch while Margie worked at Bell telephone, which later changed to GTE as a switchboard operator.
Clarence and Margie married in August of 1970. Both always told the story of how Margie's father threatened Clarence after an argument with his shotgun named Bessie. Clarence was told to
treat Margie right or Bessie would return to visit him. Lol. Margie accepted the Lord and was baptized in 1975 under the leadership of the late Reverend Chestley Whitt, Sr. Where Margie and her husband Clarence were over the Usher board and Children's choir. Margie retired from Magnavox after 25 years. Her last 5 years she ran 3 different departments all at once. Margie did not take any mess from anyone and ran a tight ship. But softened everyone up with her homemade cookies as a treat. Margie worked for ITT. Margie received her Bachelor's degree in Pastoral Ministries from Taylor University Fort Wayne, after retiring from the workforce at the young age of 50.
In 1994 Clarence and Margie started Christ Church of Faith where they remained steadfast and faithful for 27 years together. Margie was Co-Pastor and first lady. Together they taught, guided,
and nurtured numerous saints. Started a feeding program for kids at the church. Pastor Margie was in charge of the Victorious Women in Christ and spearheaded the 8 Dayz of Blaze ministry. (An 8 day revival of women preachers).
Pastor Margie was money savvy, loving, caring, and nurturing. She didn't hold back and she told you the truth whether it hurt, or felt good. Her world famous cookies, ham, dressing, and Texas
sheet cake always had people begging for more. Pastor believed in feeding everyone, physically, and spiritually. Everyone left her home full and with a goodie bag. Pastor made sure that no one was left without food or a gift at Christmas. Even if it meant her giving away her own gifts, so someone received something at Christmas time. Pastor was amazing with money and taught people how to budget. She could stretch a penny into $5. Lol. Pastor was a prayer warrior who commanded respect and loved unconditionally.
Pastor Margie leaves to cherish her memory, two sons Clarence Eldridge, Jr. (Paulette) and Robert Eldridge of Ft. Wayne; two daughters Cynthia Copeland (Greg) of Ft. Wayne, Ka'Rin
Eldridge of Nashville, Tenn. A brother Earnest McCaw (Althea) of St. Louis, MO. 25
grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, 28 great-great-grandchildren. A host of Nieces, nephews, family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Bishop Clarence Eldridge,
parents Robert & Ada B. McCaw, brothers James and Leon McCaw, sisters Shirley Leonard, Eva C. Stanley, three daughters, Tina, Sheryl, and Alita Eldridge
