Louise "Mama Lou" Green

Louise Green 80, passed into the arms of Jesus on Monday, May 15, 2023.  Born on November 3, 1942, to Ellis and Mary Green in Senatobia, Mississippi. She was the second child of six.  When Louise graduated from high school, May 12, 1960, she packed a suitcase and took the first bus to her Aunt Glennie’ home in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  She found her first employment at the old Lutheran Hospital on Fairfield Avenue and in 1968 she went to work for the Indiana State Developmental Hospital (State School), with her last employment being at the B.F. Goodrich Plant where she worked till her retirement. Louise was a young single mother of three children, but with her determination and hard work she bought a home and provided for her family. She received Christ as her Lord and Savior in the early 70’s at Oakridge Temple under the leadership of Cornelius Baker where she worshipped faithfully her entire life. Louise was at any church function or service being held and was a fashionista who was always beautifully dressed.  One of Louise’s pleasures was reading the paper every day and she meticulously scrap booked all news articles and pictures about her friends, family and church members.  She served as Oakridge’s condolence clerk for many years, sending out letters of condolences and cards for the church, only stepping down due to health issues. After her retirement she poured her love and time into her grandchildren. She was at their school events, cooked their special meals and was their number one support person. Her special baked cookies and homemade ice cream are some of the fondest memories for her children and all the church children. Many remember her always saying, “Even so come Lord Jesus” She was called by many of her spiritual children “Mamma Lou” and by her close dear friends “Weeze”.  She was considered by many a true friend and some considered her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.   

Louise leaves to cherish her memory, children; Jacqueline (Robert) Underwood of Indianapolis IN, Keith (Melinda) Green, Patricia (Patti) Green all of Ft. Wayne, IN, brothers; Brady Green of Memphis TN, Lee Green of Ft. Wayne IN, sisters; Pamela Dukes and Lena Green both of Ft. Wayne, IN, grandchildren; JaMarcus, D’Eric, Everette, and Rachard, great-grandchildren; Lena and JaMarcus, Jr.,  special friends; Louise Norton, Lula Moore, and Wanda Martin.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents; Ellis and Mary Green and brother Roscoe Green.
