The Life Journey of Lillie “Naomi” Bailey
Lillie “Naomi” Simpson Bailey was born in Norton, Virginia. After celebrating her 96th birthday on May 11, 2028, she met her Heavenly Father on May 21, 2024, surrounded by a loving family. Mother Bailey was the daughter of Nettie B. Simpson and nurtured by her loving grandmother, Rachel Simpson. She absolutely loved the Lord and confessed Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age.
Mother Bailey married the love of her life - William Bailey, Jr., and raised their 5 children, William “Kipp”, Welton “Glenn”, Jack, Gloria, and Bobby. She retired from Borden’s Ice Cream Company and later worked for Hudson’s Department Store owners until 2014. Mother Bailey was honored to be a faithful member of (son) Pastor Bobby Bailey’s church, Lighthouse Outreach Ministries International, and a devoted supporter of the Precious Jewels program.
Mother Bailey was truly the definition of a “classy” virtuous lady and respected as a woman of God. That infectious smile “had you at first glance”. Her calm and genuine lifestyle allowed her the ability to be happy, thrive, and live independently into her 90’s! The warmth of Mother Bailey’s home was a gathering place for family, friends, and visitors to enjoy amazing feasts on Sundays, in an atmosphere of friendship and togetherness. Then, a special treat was granted as you walked through her beautiful, charming, and peaceful garden filled with delightful flowers and plants. The flourishing flowers that were nourished in her garden are a “reflection of her family’s legacy” she left everyone to cherish. Her tender spirit, wisdom, and inner strength touched so many lives.
Mother Bailey was preceded in death by her mother, Nettie B. Simpson, grandmother Rachel Simpson, sister Ruth Simpson, husband William Bailey, Jr., and son William “Kipp” Bailey. Mother Bailey is survived by children, Welton Glenn Bailey (Willie), Jack Bailey (Nena), Gloria Bailey-Greene (Dirk), and Bobby Bailey (Delonda). She also leaves five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Mother Bailey will be missed, and her loving memory will remain in our hearts.
