Keishon Dewayne Jermaine Edwards was born April 10, 1999, in Fort Wayne IN to Tishie White and Kenneth Dawayne Bates. God called him home on January 1, 2023.
Keishon was known to friends and family as “KeiWavvy”. Keishon confessed Christ in 2011 at Jerusalem Baptist Church and continued to be led by the Holy Spirit throughout his life. Keishon had a fun-loving spirit and a smile that would light up a room.
Keishon was a graduate of Northrop High School and attended Trine University in 2018-2019. Keishon had just received his CNA license and was employed at Transition Hospice. He was currently attending IVY Tech to pursue his LPN.
Keishon had a love for football which can be seen through his athletic achievements. He landed the starting running back position his senior year. He had many accomplishments, including Northrop High School Football Team MVP, Most Valuable Offensive Back, Wane FAB 15, All-State Running Back, All-Conference Running Back, single game record of 352 yards and three touchdowns in one game and still standing, and 1st 1,000 yd Rusher since 2002, just to name a few.
Keishon is survived by his loving mother, Tishie (Kenny) White of Fort Wayne IN; Father Kenneth (Takeshi) Bates of Marion AL; Siblings: JaMauria LeShore, Ken’Aisa, Kaliyah White, Kenneth White III all of Fort Wayne IN. Tammera Tutt, Shardea Steadman, Kadarrius Lee, D’Mari Dunnican, Kamryn Jones, Eremy Bates, Emery Bates, Kenndi Bates, Malenlie Bates, all of Tuscaloosa AL; Grandparents: Pamela Shaw, Roberta Jones and Johnny and Gwen Leshore all of Fort Wayne IN., Mary T Bates of Marion AL. Aunts and Uncles: Curtis Jones, Johnathan (Tiffeny) Jones, Yahual ben Yisrale all of Fort Wayne IN. Jermaine Jones of Indianapolis IN, James (Melinda) Jones Jr. of Temecula CA., Glendora (Joe) Boway, Mary (Cleven) McBeath of Indianapolis IN., Charmene Ward of Greenwood IN. Tameca (Monteque) Evans of Indianapolis IN, Mary Flowers from Marion AL, Latonia (Richard) Collins from Selma AL, Rosa (Charlie) Tubbs, and Cassandra (Christopher) Paige of Tuscaloos AL. Keishon was preceded in death by Grandparents James E. Jones, Benjamin F. Shaw, Walter and Rosie May Woods Sr., and Willie Smith. Brother: Kenneth D. Bates, Jr., Uncles: Ronnie Jones and Walter Woods, Jr. Aunts: Donna Jones Stubblefield and Sherry Bates.
