Kathy Williams Obituary

Kathy Williams, affectionately called “Puddin’ Head”, was born Kathy Trowell on August 4, 1951, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Oliver and Rosalyn Trowell. Roslyn later married Frank Higgins. Kathy was one of 14 children born to this loving Union.

Kathy confessed Christ in her younger days, and as she got older, she accepted Christ then attended The Church of the True & Living God in Fort Wayne Indiana.

Kathy peacefully departed from this world on December 5, 2023.

Kathy was born and raised in Detroit Michigan. Where she attended Detroit Public High School, where she not only gained an education but also formed lifelong connections and friendships. Kathy's warm heart and caring nature were evident from a young age, foreshadowing the compassion she would extend throughout her life. In addition to her unwavering care for others, Kathy was a force to be reckoned with—a woman of strength and determination who didn't take any mess from anyone. She would cuss you out, then turn around and have you in tears laughing.

Kathy embraced the joys and challenges of motherhood, bringing three beautiful children into the world. Tawana (Stephen) Rice, Lisa (Dan) Hines, and Steven (Kimberly) Trowell. She faced the hardships of life with strength and resilience. Sadly, Kathy was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Williams

marking a poignant chapter in her life.

A testament to Kathy's selflessness was her dedication to caring for others. She lovingly looked after her aunt Margaret until she peacefully passed away, embodying the spirit of compassion and familial duty.

Beyond her nurturing tendencies, Kathy possessed a green thumb that brought life and beauty into her surroundings. Her ability to cultivate the most amazing plants showcased her talent for nurturing not only people but also the natural world. The vibrant colors and lush foliage that adorned her living spaces reflected the love and attention she poured into every aspect of her life.

Kathy's cooking skills were LEGENDARY among those who had the privilege of savoring her dishes. Her skills in the kitchen were amazing! She took great pride in crafting the best meals. One of her specialties was her hot water cornbread!

One of Kathy's cherished pastimes was knitting. Her nimble fingers created beautiful and intricate pieces, reflecting both her creativity and love. Each knitted item became a tangible expression of her warmth and generosity.

Kathy was the LIFE OF THE PARTY. She loved to dance and always had the stereo on and up loud.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver Trowell, Roslyn Trowell Higgins (Benjamin Higgins), her husband Fred Williams, brothers Oliver, Jr., Fred, Jackie, Ronald, Carl, Andre, her sister Stephenie, and her grandson Jeffery.

Kathy is survived by her children Tawana (Stephen) Rice, Lisa (Dan) Hines, and Steven (Kimberly) Trowell), her siblings, the men; Alexander, Lujon, Barry, Oliver II, the women; Gwendolyn Kimber, Carolyn (Edward) Kimber, Rosland, Audrey, and her grandchildren Robert Jr. Demetrius, Tiara, Ronika, Sasha, Kyra, Terrence, Jr., Lashay (Aaron), Talena (JaMarcus), Destiny, Steven, Jr., Shanika, Tristen, and great-grandchildren.

She also leaves numerous friends and extended family members to forever cherish the memories of her kindness, laughter, and love. While her physical presence may be absent, the indelible mark Kathy left on the hearts of those she touched will endure for generations to come.
