We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of John Freeman Carlisle, who was born on July 3, 1949, in Sprott, Alabama, to Avery and Katie Carlisle. John was united in holy matrimony to Willie Mae Rutledge in May of 1969, and from this union, their daughter Roshan Carlisle was born.
John began his career at United States Steel in Gary, Indiana, before relocating to Fort Wayne, Indiana, in 1975. He retired from Slater Steel and later dedicated 15 years to working at Walmart. John accepted Christ at an early age and was a devoted member of Kingdom Door. He was cherished by all who knew him.
John is survived by his loving daughter, Roshan (Murphy) Carlisle-Morgan; four grandchildren, Mark Braster, Malcolm Morgan, Matthew Morgan, and Timothy Poindexter Jr.; and six great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind three sisters, Ester Lee Carlisle, Mattie Dell Nelson, and Sallie Carlisle; one brother, Clary Carlisle; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Avery and Katie Carlisle; four siblings, Otis, Edward, Elonzo, and Bobby Carlisle; and his son, Timothy Poindexter Sr.
John enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears and spending quality time with his family and friends.
