Joan Taylor, 75, was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on December 19, 1947, to her mother Odessa Harden and father Curtis Taylor. She departed this life on Monday March 7, 2023, at 1:00 p.m.
She attended public school in Fort Wayne, Indiana and graduated from Central High School. She had accepted Christ into her life at a young age. She was a long-time member of Greater Spirit of Love, Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of her brother, late Superintendent Paul Taylor, Jr. She later became known as Mother Taylor at Faith Tabernacle Apostolic under Pastor Lillie Cantrell. With her funny sense of humor, she always drew a crowd in wherever she went, the young and old. Joan Taylor was called “Granny” by many.
She leaves to cherish her memory, sisters; Ebbie Adams, Paula Martin, and Bobbi (Obi) Iwobi of Fort Wayne, IN., brother: Pierre Taylor of Fort Wayne, IN., her daughters; Margret Taylor, Yvette (Albert) Taylor-Jackson, Tomika (Adrian) Morris and Nakeya Taylor all of Fort Wayne, IN., her sons: Tyrone Taylor, Jamal Taylor, both of Fort Wayne, IN., and Jamon (Choice) Kimbrough of Indianapolis, IN. She also leaves behind twenty-one grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Odessa Harden, her father, Curtis Taylor; sisters, Carol Ann Moser, Elora S. Carswell, and Sheila M. Marshall, brothers; Theodore Miller, Karl Taylor, Robert Gerald Caruthers and Paul Taylor Jr.; daughter, Kenya S. Taylor.
She will be greatly missed!
