Jerry attended Sims School in Holly Springs, MS. Later, he moved to Aurora, Illinois, where
he was employed for 39 years with Johnson Control Company. Jerry was a man who deeply
loved fishing, traveling, laughing, and joking — but most of all, he cherished spending time
with his family. His love for God guided his life and was evident in his character, kindness,
and the way he treated others. He found joy in attending church. Jerry’s generous spirit
and warm heart touched everyone he met. He enjoyed sharing stories, lending a helping
hand, and making others feel valued and loved. His joy for life was contagious, and his
legacy of love will live through those who knew him. He fell in love with his childhood
sweetheart, whom he met on Tucker Farm. Little did they know that day their friendship
would blossom into a lifelong bond. Thirty years later, he married his queen, Mary Burgess
Shaw, beginning a beautiful journey together as husband and wife.
