Jeffrey “JR” Royal Reeder Sr. was born August 20, 1962 in Fort Wayne, IN to the late Mary Virginia (Reeder) Morton and raised by the guiding hand of William H. Morton.
JR graduated from South Side High School. He was always athletic and excelled in both basketball and track & field. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served until he was medically discharged. Upon returning to Fort Wayne, he worked at Dana Corporation for several years before joining his siblings in York, PA. He spent much of his life living between Lancaster, PA and his favorite place, Reno, NV.
JR had the memory of an elephant and enjoyed telling stories from his childhood and life adventures. A self-proclaimed pit master, he loved barbequing and entertaining friends. He was a known for befriending other veterans, many who became life long friends. The youngest of the Reeder boys, JR was definitely a momma’s boy and was quick to remind everyone that he was indeed the baby.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary V. Morton, his sister, Juanita E. Colbert and brother, Rodney Reeder.
JR gained his heavenly wings on Sunday, July 27, 2024 at his home in Sparks, NV. He leaves to cherish his memory four children, Lakisha Alexander, Jeffrey (Toya) Reeder Jr, Marques Witherspoon (York, PA), and Brandon Jones (York, PA); two brothers, Larry (Sharon) Reeder Sr. and Kenneth (Kimberly) Reeder Sr., 5 grandchildren, 1 great- grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
