Jason Charles Butz “J-Rock” was born November 4, 1974, to Charles and Bonita Woods-Butz. Jason departed his earthly life on January 1, 2025 at the tender age of 50, surrounded by his loving family.
Born and raised in Fort Wayne, IN, Jason accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church. During his senior year at Bishop Luers High School, Jason was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma. However, that didn’t stop him because he was able to successfully graduate in 1993. After completing chemotherapy and radiation, Jason attended Glen Oaks Junior College in Sturgis, MI. Before Jason's medical issues, he received several D1 offers in Football, Basketball, and Baseball. Jason always loved sports, whether playing, watching, or coaching. Jason enjoyed spending time with family and friends, but most importantly he loved spending time with his children.
Jason was preceded in death by his brother; Chad Butz, his grandparents; Pearly Mae and J.B. Woods, and Harold and Jeanette Butz. Jason was loved by his parents Charles & Bonita Woods-Butz. Jason leaves to cherish his memories with his son; Jaylen Butz, his daughters; Carlie and Lanie Butz, and Asya (Josh) Garcia, his special daughter; Mychele Woods (Poohbear), and two grandchildren. He leaves to cherish his memories a host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and Friends…too numerous to count.
