Idris L. Amos was born on June 1, 1971, in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the parents of William Dodds and Birdie Amos- McDowell. He accepted Christ at an early age, was baptized, and was a member of Old Landmark COGIC. He was a graduate of Snider High School and was gainfully employed at the Fort Wayne State Developmental Center.
Idris was an avid sports fan; his favorite teams were the Indianapolis Colts and the Michigan State Spartans. He was a connoisseur of food and music, loved his nieces and great-nephew, and had an infectious laugh that would fill the room.
Idris was preceded in death by his father William Dodds; his grandparents, Choice Amos, Gracie Amos-Eley, Annie Pearl, and Tom Dodds; and his sister Celesta Carter of Dayton, Ohio.
He leaves to cherish his memory his mother Birdie (Steve) McDowell of Fort Wayne, Indiana; his brothers Anthony Cooper and William Amos of Fort Wayne, Indiana; his sister Kitanja Amos of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and host of family and friends.
