Harold Webb Obituary

In Loving Memory of Harold “Butch” Webb

Our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and family patriarch, lovingly known as, Peepaw, was born on November 28, 1951, in Alton, Illinois, to the late Odell Stockard and Charlie Webb of Oxford, Mississippi.

His first major job was at Laclede Steel, where his father and aunt worked. He was a man whose presence filled every room, whose laughter was contagious, and whose love for his family was unwavering.  Butch was known for his humor, quick wit, and love of good-natured debates, especially when it came to football. He never missed a chance to challenge the Webb men who didn’t share his loyalty to his favorite team, the Washington Commanders, and he did so with a smile that made it impossible not to laugh. He loved being in the center of everything, and always camera ready.

Harold accepted Christ and was baptized at the Greater St James Baptist church in Alton, Ill. Pastored by Rev. C. D. Buchanan.  He attended Sunday school and sang in the youth Choir. After high school he attended Bellville Jr. College and played baseball.

Above all else, Butch loved his family. He took great pride in every one of them and made sure they knew it. His words of encouragement, his laughter, and his presence will forever live in the hearts of those he loved.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his five children: Robert Webb, Stacy Ferguson, Stephanie Webb all of Indiana, Brandon (Crystal) Webb of Missouri, and Demond Waller of Indiana; seven siblings; Charlie Webb, Jr., James Webb, Leona (Jack) Foster, Janice Webb, Patricia Webb, Mike (Becky) Webb, Randy (Rochelle) Webb; special aunts, Maggie Jones and Lena Ruth Buckner. He was a devoted and loving Peepaw to Ashley, Ke’Aira (Tristan), Kae’Andra, Robert Jr. (Adriana), Miles, Allen Jr. (Kaylee), Zhane, Laron, Cameron (Erica), Kenyon, Brandon Jr., Kylie, Jonah, Elijah, and Cynthiah. He was also blessed to be a proud great-grandfather to Antoine, Ma’Kiyah, Harmony, Trinity, Angelikye, James, Miles, and Brielle, each of whom brought him immense joy.

He is preceded in death by his wonderful wife, Janice Webb, brother, Mike Webb, great grandson James Calvin, special uncle Chalmus Gatheright and special aunt Lucille Gatheright.
