George Edward Barnett was born May 8, 1943 in Trenton, Tennessee to Thurston Barnett and Edna Earlean Parish. He
accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. He attended Rosenwald High School, where he played varsity basketball. Upon graduation from high school in 1961, he
enlisted in the United States Army. After returning from the Army, he reunited with his family in Fort Wayne, Indiana. During his walk with Christ, he maintained church
memberships under Bishop Jesse White, Pastor Robert Bell, and most recently, Pastor Fred Morris at Antioch Baptist Church.
He worked for North American Van Lines as an open road truck driver. He loved attending church services, traveling, socializing with family and friends, and fishing.
GOD said it was time for him to come home on January 18, 2021.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Thurston Barnett and Edna Earlean Parish, grandparents; Robert and Willie
Bell Harvell, daughter; Colona Mae Bright, sister;
Gwendolyn Miller, nephews; Edward L. Wristpus, Elton Street Jr., and Gregory Draper Jr., uncles; George and Robert Harvell.
George leaves to cherish his memories, children; Raymond (Juanita) Barnett of Temecula, California, Kim (Vincent) Johnson, George (Marcella) Cuffer, and DeeDee Barnett all
of Fort Wayne, and Marvin of Detroit, Michigan. Brothers; Theothis Barnett of Chicago, Illinois, Rev. Irvin (Johnnie Mai) Parish of Goodlettesville, Tennessee, and Andre (Paulette) Parish of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Sisters; Eva Wristpus of Norfolk, Virginia, Carolyn Barnett of Savannah, Georgia, Johnnie Mai Amos, Wanda Brown, and Kim Walker, all of Fort Wayne, Indiana; 14 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
