Floydia Mae Goree was born on December 21, 1935 in Marion, Alabama to the late Annie Lee Hatch and Ruben Hatch. She transitioned to heaven on February 7, 2021 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Floydia accepted Christ at a young age and joined the Healing Spring Baptist Church in Marion, Alabama. After she moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana she united with the New Bethel Baptist Church which later became Zion Bethel Baptist Church. Years later Mother Floydia moved her membership to New Covenant Worship Center in Fort Wayne, IN. Floydia was employed by and retired from the Hilton Hotel in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Floydia was united in Holy Matrimony to Heck Goree in 1952, and to this union 7 children were born.
Floydia leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters, Gloria (Herbert) Wright, and Mary Diane Goree-Myatt (Fred Stewart) both of Fort Wayne, IN; three sons, Judge John (Elicia) Goree, Little Rock, AR, James (Velma) Goree, Columbia City, IN, and Justin (LaTrece) of Fort Wayne, IN.; twelve grandchildren, Rev. Jason (Susan) Goree, Terrese Goree, Jermaine Goree, DiShondra Goree, Dr. Johnathan (Maya) Goree, Jessica Goree, Julian Noel, Kalisha Goree, Justice Goree, Amijah Stewart, JaShawn Stewart, and Joseph Stewart; fourteen great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren; sisters, Kerry Ellis, Nellie Hicks, Oddie Bowley, Minnie (Willie) Gates, Jonnie Spicer, Lizzie Church, Fannie Eloms and Jennifer (James) Lowery; brother, James (Darlena) Austin; sister-in-laws, Vera Smith and Lutelia Reed and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Floydia was preceded in death by husband, Heck Goree; mother and father, Annie Lee and Ruben Hatch; daughter, Annie Goree-Noel; son, Alvin David Goree; daughter-in-law, Karen Goree; son-in-law, Luther Myatt; mothers, Susie Smith and Susie Hatch; sister, Susie Davis; brothers; Willie Smith, Charles Smith, and William Tee Smith.
