Reflections of Life
Terrie’s Motto “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13)
Terrie Shaw was born to Gail and Douglas Jordan in Fort Wayne, Indiana on July 27, 1979. She graduated from Wayne High School in 1997. In 1998, Terrie enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserve from March 1998-March 2006. She served in the role of Communication Chief and Platoon Commander from January 2002-March 2006. She served briefly overseas at the Iraq-Operation Enduring Freedom from January 2003-January 2004.
She went on to become Dr. Terrie A. Shaw and was an associate Professor of Psychology. Prior to becoming a full time professor at Indiana Tech, she taught at Indiana University, Purdue University-Fort Wayne, and Brown Mackie College. Dr. Shaw earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Purdue University and her Masters in counseling education from Indiana Tech. She earned her doctorate degree in Global Leadership at Indiana Tech. During her tenure at Indiana Tech, Dr. Shaw was the President of the Black Students of Excellence Organization. She was influential and led many students to Christ through her faith.
Dr. Shaw was a devoted member of Redemption Church under the leadership of Pastor, Dr. Khalid Griffin and Lady LaToya Griffin. She served as a teacher in the children's ministry and also as the Prayer Team Ministry Leader.
In 2020, Dr. Shaw started her own private practice counseling business, as the CEO and president of Victorious in Christ Counseling and Coaching Services. She served as a licensed psychotherapist and licensed mental health counselor, assisting clients from diverse populations ranging from adolescents and adults to couples and families.
Dr. Shaw’s passion to help those in need created an opportunity for her to serve as an ordained minister and international liaison to 5 countries in the role of a consultant, aiding global leaders clinically with the implementation of strategic plans or crisis management and scaling community health.
In Dr. Shaw’s spare time, she loved spending quality time with her family. Whenever the family had an event to attend, she made sure the entire family was colored coordinated from head to toe. She often mentioned that she was called to serve the Kingdom of God, and that’s where she found the most fulfillment. She never met a stranger and always had an encouraging word to share, no matter the time of day. Motherhood was also her ultimate goal, to live a life worthy of God as an example before her children.
On October 7, 2024, Dr. Terrie Shaw was called home to be with the lord. Leaving behind to cherish her significant memory is her devoted husband, James Shaw Sr., beautiful daughters, Haley Shaw, Tamara Shaw, and handsome son James Shaw Jr. She is survived by her Father, Douglas (Evelyn) Jordan and Gail Jordan, sisters, Terrece Jordan-Fairgood, Inday (Damario) Hayes and brothers Terriell (Shaniqua) Jordan, Cordiell (Cherrelle)Jordan, Douglas (Toni) Jordan Jr. Yoel Jordan, and brother-in-law, Juan Fairgood, close nephews, Jason and Justis Powell, niece, Taliyah Hill, as well as a host of beloved aunties, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
