December Jean (Portee) Henry

December Jean Portee Henry was born December 30, 1986 to Araina L. Johnson and James Chapman, Jr. in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She departed this life on January 16, 2024. She accepted Christ in her life at a young age. December moved to Mesa, Arizona, where she resided with her husband and her three beautiful daughters until she passed.

December graduated from Northside High School, class of 2003. December went on to study Pharmacy at Washtenaw Community College. December, affectionately known as “Dee Dee” and/ or “Baby Dee, was full of life and laughter and was somewhat of a prankster. She would always start her conversation with, “Do you know who I am”.

December enjoyed crocheting blankets and matching hats for newborn babies, comedy shows, and believe it or not, wrestling, hanging out with family and friends, and family vacations on the beach. Her true gift to the world was helping those in need and she did not ask any questions. December was an amazing and beautiful person. She loved her family dearly and would do whatever necessary for her family. December will be truly missed and always loved by all that knew her.

December leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Trevor Henry, three daughters, Tristan Portee, True Henry, and Trinity Henry, nine sisters, Shandis Hudson, Gia Parker, Chaudney Fincher, Cassandra Barker, Ashley McClure, Shayle McClure, Tatiana Lewis, Marina Campbell, and Quiondra Molton, seven brothers, Greg Portee, Justin Chapman, Tyler McClure, Demitrise Johnson, Shaquille Booker, Contrille Booker, and Dominique Fowlks, her mother, Araina L. Johnson, her father, James Chapman, Jr., stepfathers, Greg Hunter and Lane Johnson, great-great aunt, Bessie Ann Broner, grandfather, Joseph Lewis, grandmother, Eualeen Chapman, aunt, Stephanie Hudson, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

December was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Carolyn Jean Lewis and Evelyn M. Hunter, grandfathers, James Chapman, Sr. and John Arthur Fincher, and Alf Hunter, brother Cameron Norris, and an aunt, Jemarja Chapman
