Bonnie Coats

Bonnie "Punkin" Coats was born August 30, 1951 in Cincinnati, Ohio to her late father, Joe Beard and her mother Carol Lee Beard w, who is now 86 years old. Bonnie went home to rest in the arms of the Lord on January 1, 2021. Bonnie moved to Elkhart, Indiana in the early 1970’s after her graduation from Bramwell High School in Bramwell, West Virginia. While residing in Elkhart she worked as a cook in the kitchen at Elkhart Health care for a few years. Soon after she worked at Godfrey Marine with our father, Joe Henry Beard. Bonnie had the most beautiful heart of gold. She would give you the clothes off her back and never complain one bit. She loved fishing, shopping, dancing, music, and driving. She would jump in the car and drive anywhere no matter how far. Most of all she loved church and praising the Lord. She especially loved the Jericho Road at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church every year.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband; Floyd Coats, her children: her son; Charles (Tanita) Harris her only granddaughter; Kiana of Charlotte, North Carolina, a daughter; Latrievia (James) Harris of Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Bonnie has one lovely aunt left; Emma Lee Harris, five sisters; Lois (Albert) Hodges, Edna Clark, Beverly (Marvin) Logue, Patricia (Booker T.) McClellan, Lavator (Kersley) Coleman, nieces & nephews; Shulena of Charlotte, NC, Tyree of Indianapolis, IN, Melanie of South Bend, IN, Felita and Jeff of Elkhart, IN, Edward and Shemeka of South Bend, Dontrell of South Bend, IN, Cory of Washington State, Janoffery Clark “JJ” of Los Angeles, CA, Robert of Charlotte, NC, Demel of Georgia, Darrell of Charlotte, NC, Takieta of Ft. Wayne, IN, Denise of Elkhart, IN, Dontice and Braska of Warsaw, Raymond of Huntington, Anthony, LaMarco, Sabrena, and Christopher all of Elkhart, IN, and Makayla of Newbern, NC,

Bonnie was preceded in death by her father, Joe Henry Beard, great aunt; Esther Clark, sister; Linda Clark, aunt; Mary Harris, uncle; Stanley Jordan, uncle Snookey Jordan who left behind a loving wife; Debra Jordan who is deeply loved. Bonnie left behind sisters and brothers -in-law: LeRoy Coats, Limuel (Joyce) Coats, Jr., Charley, Kelvin (Edna) Clancy, Dorothy Coats, Maxine Coats, Eracine Coats, Lucille (Willie) Smith, Shirley (Bill) Stevenson, Bernice (Larry) Hamilton, along with a host of cousins and extended family and friends.
