Benjamin Shaw, Sr. Obituary

 

Benjamin Franklin Shaw, Sr. was born July 31, 1944, in Belzoni, MS to the late Emma Mae and James R. Shaw, Sr.  God called him home on November 11, 2022.

 

Benjamin was known to friends and family as “Ben” or “Uncle Ben” later in life.  Ben confessed Christ at an early age and continued to be led by the Holy Spirit throughout his life.  Ben had a servant’s heart to open his home and heart to family and friends when in times of need.  He was willing to share his life’s wisdom to those who would listen, including participating and mentoring Ft. Wayne Toro’s MC members.  Ben was creative, innovative, outgoing, and never knew a stranger. 

 

Ben was a graduate of Northrop High School.  He had many occupations throughout his life including Phillips Dodge as a mail-handler, a driver for EMS services and City Hall on Wheels. Ben was known for his leather making skills and motorcycle customized “Bull horns”, restoration and construction of homes, working on cars and an all-around entrepreneur. He had several hobbies that he enjoyed included photography, fishing, CB club, being a retired Toro’s MC Club member and playing pool.  He also enjoyed going to the casinos and spending time with his wife. 

 

Ben is survived by his loving wife, Pamela J. Shaw; Siblings Harrison (Jacqueline) Shaw, Catherine Shaw, Mary Hill all of Fort Wayne, IN, Jerome (Dorothy) Shaw of Clarksdale MS; Shirley (Tom) Wetzel of Orlando FL, Children Deloris (Calvin) Chaney of Anderson, IN, Ramona Scott of Fort Wayne, IN, BenJamin (Ychelle) Shaw Jr. of Las Vegas, NV, Cynthia Powell of Las Vegas, NV, Katherine Shaw, of Spokane, WA, Cieondra Shaw, Jaleesa Shaw, Franklin Shaw, Marcus Shaw, Tishie (Kenneth) White all residing in Fort Wayne, IN; Special God Children Catalina Munoz, Anthony Munoz, Amanda Cary, Ashley Rivers, 36 grandchildren,16.5 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, one aunt and many friends.     

 

Ben was preceded in death by his parents Emma Mae and James R Shaw, Sr.; sons David Shaw, James Clark, daughter Emma L. Phillips; brothers James Shaw, Jr.,  and Willie Simmons, sisters Ruby Harris Jeromnes, and Daisy Mae LaFlaura.
