Beatrice Benson, 77, was born on October 21, 1946 to Hubert and Ilivia Woods in Dora, Alabama.
“Bea” was united in holy matrimony to the late George Benson in 1965. Soon after they migrated to Fort Wayne, Indiana. Bea joined Antioch Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. C.E. Walker where she was a faithful member, ushering, doing missionary work, and handling the church finances until her health no longer permitted her to do so.
Bea was employed at Borders Ice Cream for many years and retired from the State Developmental Center. She was the mother of five children, which included a set of twins.
Bea loved working in her yard and she could shop all day long. She was an excellent cook and nobody could out dress her. She definitely had an eye for decorating on any budget.
Bea leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Joseph Earl (Wanda Lesia) Woods, two daughters, Sharon and Yolanda Benson, and three siblings, Linda Lewis, Jimmy Lee Wilbert, and Hugh Woods, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-five and ½ great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Bea was preceded in death by her husband, George Benson, her twins, Bobby and Barbara Benson, four siblings, Terry Woods, Lucius Hagler, Tommie Lee Woods, and Priscilla Griggs, four uncles, and three aunts.
