Alice Mae Ensley, 67, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025. Born on February 2, 1958, in Brent, Alabama, she was the beloved daughter of Bernice Wilms and Chester Wilms Sr.
Alice graduated from Northrop High School in Fort Wayne and dedicated her professional life to nurturing young minds as a preschool teacher with CANI Head Start, where she retired after many years of loving service.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Bernice Wilms; her husband, Gary Ensley; her daughter, Alicia Minor; her brother, Chester Wilms Jr.; her niece, Janay Young; and her sister, Ashley Wilms.
Alice leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory: her children Cassondra Wilms, Arkenia Woodson (Larry), Roy Wilms, Dominique Ensley, and son-in-law Eric Minor, 18 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Denise Young, Virginia Wilms, Ianna Wims, Jashell Wilms, Michael Wilms, and Jameka Wilms.
Alice shared a special bond of 15 years with her dear friend, Albert Payne, whose companionship brought joy and comfort to her life.
Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family and students touched the lives of many. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered resting close by her mother in Lindenwood Cemetery.
