Alex James Early Sr. was born in Midnight, Mississippi, to the late John Early Sr. and Sarah Early. He was the oldest of 6 siblings. He transitioned from this earth on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, in Northern California. He was 94 years young.
Alex completed his high school diploma at Fort Wayne Central High School circa 1945. He worked many years as a TV Repairman and was an employee at the General Electric plant in Fort Wayne, where he retired after more than 30-years. Alex spent most of his adult years in Fort Wayne. Never one to be idle, after retiring from General Electric he obtained his contractor’s license and started Early’s Home Improvement a construction and home remodeling business that he maintained for more than 20-years.
The church always played an important part in Alex’s life. He was a Deacon at St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he was a member for the past 50-plus years.
Alex was preceded in death by his former first wife, Ovie (Stevens) Early, and his former second wife, Lydia (Alexander) Early, his brother John Early Jr., sister Elnora Riddle, and sister Willie Mae Belcher. His surviving siblings are Lonnie Early, William Early, and Betty Hill.
He is succeeded by his children, Alex J. Early Jr., Patricia Bruner, Kenneth Early, Lionel Early, Elaine Jenkins, Barbara Early, Michael Sanders, Pamela Grusnick, Vince Sanders (deceased), Clydia Early, Raymond Early, Sherry Early-Aden, Shawnte Rutledge, and Erica Rutledge.
He also leaves to cherish his memory, Ms. Church, his caregiver of many years, a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.
