Ruthie Pearl Ellington was born Monday, April 15, 1940, to the late Florzell Ellington, Sr. and Annie B. (Ellington) Long in Gainesville, Alabama. She departed this earth, Friday, December 20, 2019 to be with her heavenly Father.
At an early age, Ruth Ellington accepted Christ at Porter Jerusalem Baptist Church in Porter, Alabama. She moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1973, where she fellowshipped and became a member of Antioch Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. C.E. Walker. Ruth retired from Preferred Technical Group after thirty years of service. During her life; she enjoyed spending time with her children, family, and friends. She was well known for her love for others, words of wisdom, cooking and listening to her gospel music.
She leaves to cherish her memory; her seven footprints, Cynthia Hayes, Samuel (Carolyn) Ellington, Selena Ellington, Roger (Shavon) Ellington, and Sabrina (Artie) Ware; all of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Derrick (Cassandra) Ellington of Yerkwood, Alabama, and Johnny Ellington of Louisville, Kentucky, four sisters; Louella Benson and Arlesia (Timothy) Hughes of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Frankie (John) Moore of Queens, New York, Derry (Earl) Hudson of Birmingham, Alabama, two brothers, Otis (Irish) Long of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and George Long of Birmingham, Alabama, two sisters-in-law, Mary J. Long of Birmingham, Alabama and Carry Ellington of Epes, Alabama, twenty-two grandchildren, thirty-nine great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Florzell Ellington and Annie B. Long, her step-father, Joseph B. Long, five brothers; Florzell Ellington, Jr., Eddie Ellington, Sr., Cleveland Long, Robert Long, and Baby Boy Long, two sisters; Sally Lawson and Amanda Russell, brothers-in-law; Willie Richardson and Eugene Russell, and sister-in-law; Doris Long.
