Karen Renee DuBose-Lee was born August 23, 1957 to the late David and Charlotte DuBose in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She confessed her love for Christ and was baptized around the age of five at Union Baptist Church where she was a member for many years until she moved away to Georgia. She attended Wayne High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Karen was called home to be with the Lord on August 1, 2019 at her home in Covington, Georgia surrounded by family and friends.
Karen was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. In 1994 she relocated to Atlanta, Georgia. There she met her husband, Bennie Lee, Jr., and they became active members of Bethel Family Church in Decatur, Georgia.
The doors of Karen's home were always open, and she often made her loved ones feel welcome by serving them her famous fried chicken. Karen had an outspoken and infectious personality. Once someone met her, she was never forgotten.
On Thursday, August 1, 2019, God called Karen home to eternal rest. She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Charlotte DuBose and her brother; Stanley Minniefield. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband; Bennie Lee, Jr., of Covington, Georgia; one son; Damian "PJ" (Erin) DuBose of Fort Wayne, Indiana, one brother; Michael DuBose of Conyers, Georgia, six grandchildren; Eric Proegler, Gabrielle Proegler, Nyla DuBose, DaKia DuBose, Nadia DuBose, all of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Damian DuBose, II of Miramar, Florida, five great-grandchildren, her pets; Diva and Jade, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws, and friends to cherish her memory.
