David Douglas Green, Jr. was born on July 16, 1943 to the late David and Ernest Lee Green. He passed away peacefully on September 24, 2019 surrounded by family.
David was united in Holy Matrimony to Ruth Ann on November 23, 1963. They were happily married for nearly 56 years.
As a child David was baptized and worked as a Sunday school teacher. He graduated from Central High School in 1962. He worked at Navistar for 30 years as a tool maker. After retiring from Navistar, David later worked at Auto Zone for 10 years. He loved spending his spare time working on cars, playing cards with his brothers, and collecting classic model cars and trucks. He was so talented he could build anything that came to his mind.
David leaves his memories to be cherished by his devoted and loving wife, Ruth Ann King-Green; His six children, Shanita (Connell) Nelson, Timothy (Twanda) James, Laretha Green-Manuel, Todd (Tralina) Green, Tracey (Samuel) Jones, and Kawanya (Brian) Muhammad; his 11 siblings, 18 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and a large host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Ernest Lee and his brother Robert Whitehead.
David will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.
Service will be Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Southern Heights Baptist Church, 4001 South Anthony Blvd. at 11:00 A.M. Care entrusted to Nelson Memorial Gardens, Inc.
